Obituary for John “Jack" David Hoyt

John “Jack” David Hoyt, 66, passed away at the MidMichigan Medical Center, Monday morning June 18, 2018. Jack was born February 27, 1952 to the late Gordon and Mildred (Hopkins) Hoyt. Over the years he worked at Alma Plastic, in Alma followed by 4-D Block Company in Midland, and all through that he did construction work and farmed. He loved spending time with the family when he could. Jack enjoyed farming, deer and pheasant hunting, and of course can’t forget watching the Detroit Tigers.

He is survived by his partner of 10 years, Debra Hoyt, his children John (Heather Edsall) Hoyt Jr. of Clarksville, TN, Toni (Josh) Huber of Hope, MI, and Joshua (Danika) Hitsman of St, Louis MI. Jack also raised as his own children Colette (Ryan) Deshano, Darrell Sutton, Preston Hitsman and Robert (Terra) Hulst; “Step” children Rich (Meri) DeGroft, Rhonda (Charlie) Nilsen, and Elonda (Xavior) Fullmore. He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew Huber, Collin Hoyt, Kayla Hoyt, and Alexis Hitsman; “Step” grandchildren Zach DeGraft, Ryan Nilsen, Cassidy DeGroft, Dakota Nilson, Ashley DeGroft, and Haylee Nilsen. Jack also leaves behind his sisters, Irene (Marv) Rooks, Sue (Lynn) Moulton, and Bev (Larry) Linton, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Larry Hoyt and grandchildren Colton, Sydney, and Angel Hoyt.

A memorial service for Jack will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Porter Free Methodist Church, 2411 W. Pine River Rd., Breckenridge. His family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday July 14th from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the family through the care of his daughter Toni Huber. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors.
