Obituary for Bonneita "Bonnie" Heiser

Bonneita (Bonnie) Heiser born January 1, 1930, the last of her family’s generation, lived a full and self-rewarding life. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Ivan and Ethel (Ila Stoner) Heiser, brother Edwin Heiser, sister Iola (Heiser) Farnsworth, and her life-long best friend Betty Davis.

Being a talented first-baseman on a local fast pitch softball team ( Palmers High Speed ) which won State Championships in 1946 and 1947, brought her many friends and experiences she never forgot. Bonnie was proud to be a Teamster rep and being ahead of the times by holding “a man’s job for a man’s pay.” Following a 30 year career at McKay Press in Midland, she and her mother retired to the woods outside Grayling Michigan. After losing Grandma (as many called her), Bonnie continued several decades living alone in the woods she loved so much. Fishing and hunting, riding snow machines, long walks and gardening or just sitting on the porch: she loved life in the wild.

In the summer of 2016 it became necessary for her to move to Ohio where her niece Becky (Heiser) Webb guided her through the hardships of Alzheimer’s to the end on June 26, 2018. She is already missed.

Funeral and Committal Services for Bonnie will take place at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 11, 2018 in the Chapel at Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Bonnie’s family will receive Friends from 10:30 A.M. until time of service.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Midland Humane Society or the charity of their choice in Bonnie’s memory.
