Obituary for Charles Delmar Melchi

Charles Delmar Melchi, 84, of Midland, went to be with Yahweh with the love of Yahshua, on Saturday, January 20, 2018 while he was a patient at the MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. He was born April 5, 1933 in Homer Township, Midland County, son of the late Cloyd and Marietta (Manges) Melchi. Mr. Melchi was a graduate of Midland High School. He was employed for over forty years with the Dow Chemical Company as a Metal Fabricator and served as a Crossing Guard with Midland Public Schools for eighteen years. On October 28, 1989 he married the former Denise Philo. She survives him. In addition to being a Bible Scholar, Charles loved woodworking, dancing, and camping. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Midland and was also a member of the Sanford Moose Lodge #2519.



Surviving besides his wife Denise, are his children; Charles (Amy) Melchi, Patti (Michael) Rohn, and Jami Melchi, step Children; Dottie (Kevin) Batchelder-Streeter, Jon (Cathy) Batchelder, and her special son-in-law, Michael Lietaert, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Valerie Smith and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Melchi was predeceased by two brothers; Harvey and David Melchi and, four sisters; Velta Whitehead, Zita Whitehead, Marietta Smith, and Victoria Hardy.



In honoring Mr. Melchi’s request, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service to celebrate his life will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 from the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 502 Cherry St. in Midland. Pastor Sam Hamilton and Pastor Toney Moore will both officiate with private inurnment to take place later in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Melchi’s family will receive friends at the church on Friday, February 9th from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Melchi family.



Cremation and Memorial Services have been entrusted to the care of Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors, 1200 W. Wheeler St. Midland.
