Obituary for Dolores “Dottie” Doud

Dolores “Dottie” Doud, 80, of Reese, died Sunday afternoon, February 11, 2018 at Covenant HealthCare, Cooper Campus, in Saginaw. She was born September 29, 1937 in Munger, daughter of the late James and Anna (Chartrand) Burke. Dottie attended St. Norbert Catholic School and later graduated from Bay City Central High School. On May 2, 1953 she was married to Kenneth E. Doud Sr. in Munger. He predeceased her October 28, 1993. She retired from Saginaw General Hospital as a Surgical Technologist after many years of service. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese and enjoyed her role as a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Dottie enjoyed crocheting, family “get-togethers” and baking, especially her “sweet treats”

Surviving are her children and their spouses; Kenneth E. and Linda Doud Jr. of Indian River; Kris A. and Mary Lou Doud of South Branch; Kathleen and William Glynn of Spruce; Kay and Richard Cooper of Saginaw; and Kellie and John Curtis of Reese; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Burke of Reese. In addition to her parents and husband Ken, Dottie was predeceased by her son, Kevin M. Doud, March 5, 2014, her great-grandson, Jaxson Glunn, her daughter-in-law, Patricia Doud, brothers, James Burke, Lyle O. Burke, Neal Burke, and Michael Burke and sisters, Blanch Empey. Mary Ellen Krauseneck, Janet Schmidt, and Patricia Herzberg.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 12 Noon Friday, February 16, 2018 from the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Father Alberto Vargas will officiate with Committal Services to follow in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery. Dottie’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 11 a.m. until the Liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or the donor’s favorite charity.
