Obituary for Helen E. Zondlak

Helen E. Zondlak, 87, was blessed into the Kingdom of God March 6, 2018. She was born on March 25. 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan to George and Angeline Katsarelas. She attended Saginaw Schools and Bay City Junior College. Helen married Donald Andrew Zondlak in Saginaw, November 6, 1954. They moved to Midland and were blessed with 4 children, 3 sons and a daughter. They enjoyed 34 ½ years of marriage before Donald’s death, May 20, 1989. Helen was a past member of the original Altar Society and Women’s Group of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish. Helen enjoyed baking, cooking, working with flowers, and silk flower arrangements. She loved keeping up with news and current events. She enjoyed music, musicals, and also served as Yellow Lady at Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center. She was employed by Midland Public Schools for 18 years. Her greatest love and achievement was her family. She loved and created magical family gatherings. She is survived by her beloved children and spouses. Richard Donald Zondlak of East China, Lynnette Marie (Larry-deceased) Peppler of Flushing, Thomas Michael (Marianne) Zondlak of Rogers, Arkansas, and Robert James (Sandy) Zondlak of MIdland; 7 grandsons, Eric Brandon (Janna), Andrew Nicholas, Alexander Nathaniel, Kevin Michael, William Joseph, Nicholas Robert, and Stewart Alexander. She loved her loyal and special friend and companion her beloved ShiTzu, “Tutti”. Helen’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler, Midland, MIchigan, Friday, March 9, 2018. Visitation 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Prayer Service 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 10, 2018, 11:00 a.m. preceded with visitation 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 3516 E. Monroe Rd., Midland, Michigan. The Reverends Father Joe Griffin and Father Kevin Maksym will officiate followed by graveside rites at the New Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are welcomed to share love, memories, and thoughts at the funeral home and church. The family of Helen E. Zondlak extends heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the beautiful and caring staff at Kings Daughters and Mid-MIchigan Hospice. Donations may be made to Kings Daughters and/or Mid-Michigan Hospice.
