Obituary for Jacob "Jake" W. Wark

Jacob, W. “Jake” Wark, 87, of Reese, died early Wednesday morning, May 2, at Covenant HealthCare Harrison Campus in Saginaw, with his family by his side. He was born April 15, 1931 in Akron, MI son of the late John W. and Ruth Mae (Gilmore) Wark. Jake attended Akron Community Schools and was a graduate of Akron High School. On August 10, 1957 he married the former Barbara Sauer in Wisner. She survives him. He was employed as an Inspector at Saginaw Steering Gear for over thirty years, retiring April 1, 1991. Mr. Wark was a life member of the Reese United Methodist Church and served his country with the U.S. Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. His favorite enjoyment was watching his grandchildren playing sports. He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball in his younger years, hunting, fishing, working in his garden, and was well known for making horseradish.

Surviving besides his wife Barbara, are his two sons; Craig Wark of Saginaw; and Douglas Wark and his wife Lisa of Reese; three grandchildren; Carly Jo Wark, Shane Wark, Anthony “Tony” Wark and his great-grandson Andrew. Also surviving is his brother, Joseph Wark of St. Ann, MO. In addition to his parents, Jake was predeceased by his brother, David Wark and two sisters, Esther Marie Wright and Naomi Jackson.

Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2018 from the Reese United Methodist Church. Pastor Jon Gougeon will officiate with Committal Services to follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Saginaw. Full Military Graveside Honors will be presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Reese American Legion Post #139. Jake’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Reese United Methodist Church.
