Obituary for Marilyn F. (Hollingshead) Bartlett

Marilyn F. (Hollingshead) Bartlett passed away peacefully, January 9, 2018 at Riverside Place, in Midland, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

She was born February 17, 1934 to the late Sidney and Thelma (Wilson) Hollingshead. Marilyn married the love of her life, Robert D. (Bob) Bartlett, October 11, 1953. He preceded her in death, January 24, 2012.

Marilyn graduated from Midland High School in 1952. Upon graduation, she went to work for The Dow Chemical Company until the birth of her first child in 1956. She then made it her life's profession to be the best mom ever to her children. Together, she and Bob raised five perfectly, wonderful angelic children that never disobeyed them or gave them any "flack" as Marilyn would often say, followed by a big laugh.

Marilyn was an avid bird watcher, cataloging sightings all over the United States as she and Bob traveled. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, volunteering at her church, collecting Depression glass pieces, smiling and enjoying life. After retirement, Bob and Marilyn enjoyed camping and traveling to visit their children throughout the United States. Marilyn's faith and friends at the Community of Christ Church in Midland and Sanford were an important part of her life.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Susan (Jeff) Meath of Midland; three sons, James (Lori) Bartlett of Edmond, Oklahoma, Michael (Diana) Bartlett of Buckley, Washington, and David (Debbie) Bartlett of Winter Springs, Florida; daughter-in-law, Lynn (Williams) Bartlett of Midland; grandchildren, Shannon (David Hartley), Erik, Stephanie, and Sydnie Meath, Kyle (Jennifer), Brandon, Jessica, Karl, Ashley, Alec, Joshua (Nikki) Bartlett, Sarah (Kevin) Block, and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Wanda (Ken) Maloney, Altheda Gibbs, Aletha McNeilly; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou and Sandy Eatherton, Karen (Lee) Ourth; and many nieces and nephews. ln addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Alec Bartlett; and brothers Eugene and Owen Hollingshead.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt love and thanks to the dedicated support staff at Heartland Home Health located in Riverside Place and also to Heartland Hospice.

A celebration of Marilyn's life will take place at 2 p.m on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Elder Pat Sibbald of the Community of Christ Church in Sanford will officiate, with graveside burial rites in Midland City Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon until time of service.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or Captain Annie’s Survivor Chest (through Midland Cancer Services) to support families with cancer, or the Community of Christ Church in Sanford.
