On December 24, 2018, Betty King entered the pearly gates to the place prepared for her by her beloved
Lord Jesus Christ. Betty was born in her maternal grandparent's house to Melvin E. Pletcher and Marguerite (Sabin) Pletcher on May 8, 1930 in Somerset, PA. She graduated from Somerset High School and continued her education studying drama at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. On August 27, 1950 August 27, 1950 she married Wesley W. King, also of Somerset, PA. They were blessed with two children, Cheri King and Doug King. They were also blessed with one grandson, Joshua (Tracy) Kruse, and five great-grandchildren, Jaden, Caleb, Andrew, Annelise, and Jonathan Kruse.

Betty loved to laugh and to travel. She has been to all 50 states and visited 12 European countries while living in Germany for two years. She has also visited China, Mexico, Canada and many Caribbean Islands. She worked at Midland Animal Clinic for 12 years and Midland Cogeneration Plant as a Technical Librarian until the close of the plant. After retirement in 1986, Betty and Wesley moved to Sugar Springs in Gladwin for 18 years and returned to Midland in 2006, shortly before Wesley's death. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for lst-3rd graders for many years. She was a member of the committee that started children's theater, which became the Peanut Gallery at Midland Center for the Arts. She was a member of Happy Trails Drama Troupe and Golden Guild where they performed at nursing homes and senior centers all around the Midland area.

Her parents, Marguerite and Melvin Pletcher; her loving husband of 55 years, Wesley King; brother, Melvin E. Pletcher, Jr.; and infant granddaughter, Rebecca, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, grandson, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

As cremation has already taken place, a memorial service to celebrate her life and share memories will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Midland. Betty’s family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler St. on Friday February 8th, from 5-8 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider First Baptist Church of Midland or Woodland Hospice House (Mt. Pleasant).
