Obituary for Edward Michael Haske

Edward Michael Haske, 72, of Reese, died unexpectedly, Thursday morning, October 3, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City. He was born June 16, 1947 in Merritt Township, Bay County, son of the late Rudolph and Christina (Endline) Haske. Ed was a 1965 graduate of Akron-Fairgrove High School and attended Delta College for two years. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force during Viet Nam from 1966 -1969. On August 22, 1970 he married the former Kathleen Laura Strohpaul in Auburn. She survives him. Together they would have celebrated fifty years of marriage next August. Ed was employed by both Saginaw Steering Gear and Delphi in Saginaw for over twenty-nine years as a Toolmaker. He retired in 2001. He was a life-long faithful member of Trinity-St. James Lutheran Church in Munger where he served the church in various offices. He was also a member of Local #699, and the Buckley Steam Engine Show. His enjoyments included bowling in leagues in Bay City and Reese, hunting, camping, landscaping, and cutting his grass at home.

Surviving besides his wife Kathy are his three children; Michael Haske and his wife Cathi of Reese; Steven Haske of Grosse Pointe Woods; and Julie Hargraves and her husband Matthew of Grand Blanc; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Luella Strohpaul of Auburn, his sister, Evelyn Storm and her husband James of Carsonville; his brothers-in law, Paul (Linda) Strohpaul of Midland; Roger Strohpaul of Defiance, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by two sisters; Susan Jozwiak and Margaret “Peg” Henry.

Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from Trinity-St. James Lutheran Church in Munger. Reverend James Weldon will officiate with committal services to follow in the Floral Gardens Cemetery in Bay City. Full Military Graveside Honors will be presented by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard and the Reese American Legion Post #139. Ed’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street in Reese on Tuesday from 2-7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Those planning and expression of sympathy are asked to consider Trinity-St. James Lutheran Church or the donor’s favorite charity.
