Obituary for Elmer J. Mageski

Elmer J. Mageski, 86, of Reese, died early Wednesday morning, June 26, 2019 at Covenant HealthCare, Cooper Campus, in Saginaw. He was born November 9, 1932 in Sanilac County and was a graduate of Ubly High School. Elmer served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married the former Ruth Lucille (Jamieson) Hubbell-Mageski. She predeceased him May 16, 1994. He was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear in Saginaw as Tool Maker for many years before his retirement. He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese and the Bay City Eagles Club. Elmer enjoyed traveling to many different places with his wife before her death and also enjoyed playing golf, dancing, going to the casino, and playing cards. In his younger years his hobbies included hunting and fishing.

Surviving is his step-son, Danny Hubbell of Frankenmuth; three brothers; Harold Mageski of Croswell; Tony Mageski and his wife Pat of Brimley; and Ernie Mageski of Alan Park. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews; Brian, Heather, Carl Mageski, Emily and, Diane. In addition to his parents, Elmer was predeceased by two brothers; Steve and Leonard Mageski.

In honoring Elmer’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Liturgy to celebrate his life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2019 from the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Father Christian Tabares will officiate. Full Military Honors will be presented after mass by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Reese American Legion Post #139. His cremains will then be buried next to his wife Ruth in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport.

Elmer’s Family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy.

Cremation and Memorial Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors, 9940 Saginaw St. Reese, Michigan 48757.
