Obituary for Mary Suzanne “Sue” (Gordon) Kimmel
Mary Suzanne “Sue” (Gordon) Kimmel died Sunday, November 4, 2018. She was born November 5, 1924 in Monmouth, Illinois to Robert Leslie Gordon and Florence (Mann) Gordon. They lived on the Gordon farm in Henderson County. Sue graduated from Monmouth College and worked as a silicon chemist for the Dow Corning Corporation in Midland, Michigan. She was married December 14, 1951 to Charles Edward Kimmel, who predeceased her in 1998. Sue was a past president of the Midland Little Theatre Guild, and elder of Chapel Lane Presbyterian Church, a member of Saginaw Audubon, the North American Mycological Association, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity.
She is survived by daughters Kathryn Anne Kimmel (Gary Zajic) and Janice Sue Kimmel, both of Livingston, Montana; son Thomas C. Kimmel (Susan Soth) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and grandsons Gordon Soth-Kimmel (Arly Vincent) and David Soth-Kimmel, both of Evergreen, Colorado.
Memorial services for Sue will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider an organization of the donor’s choice. Sue’s family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers of Comfort Keepers and Southern Care Hospice. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors.
