Parkin, Sara C., 75, of Midland, MI. Sara Catherine Parkin was born on July 22, 1943 and died on October 1, 2018. In between those dates she lived a full life filled with love and laughter, trusting in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She was the second of four children of Rev. Arthur and Doris Parkin. She grew up in the Detroit area. She was a registered nurse and worked at what was then known as “Bay Med,” and later at the Midland Hospital. She and Butch met in 1977 and married in 1984. Always one to care for others, she continued to find ways to help by working for the Almost Heaven health care service. Her years of service to others continued through her church, the Community of Christ, and she believed her role of “Educator” was a call to bring love and peace to others. She was a pioneer in the use of message boards and online chat on her denomination’s website. Through this she reached out to people all over the world with her message of peace and love for one another. She also continued her “educator” role through her many mission trips to Brazil. When she was first diagnosed with Early Stage Alzheimer’s Disease, she saw it as a blessing because she felt empowered to live her life and focus on helping others with this disease learn how to find the support they need to live with such a diagnosis, too. She was an activist who campaigned on behalf of those who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. She encouraged people to be proactive in all aspects of their health, and especially advocated early awareness and diagnosis of all forms of dementia. She was a board member for the Alzheimer's Association Greater Michigan Chapter Central Michigan Region.

Sara is survived by her husband, Lorne (Butch) Enders; her daughter, Shari Dawn Bell of Prescott; Butch’s children, Casey (Roxann) Enders and Garlynn Enders Winslow, and two granddaughters, Jessica and Cali Winslow, all of Midland; Sara’s sisters Claire M. Crane of Whittemore and Penny L. Parkin of Fairgrove; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and by her brother, Arthur R. Parkin, III.

Funeral services for Sara will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2018 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and again on Sunday from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Association.
