Obituary for Tammy Lynn Hyatt

Tammy Lynn Hyatt, 58, of Midland, was at home, surrounded by the love of her family, when she went to be with her Lord Thursday evening, March 21, 2019.

She was born November 6, 1960 in Saginaw, daughter of Carl and Retha (Crosby) Neuenfeldt. She grew up in Hemlock and attended Zion Lutheran grade school. She graduated from Hemlock High School, and at the age of nineteen married Charlie Hyatt in Hemlock. After her third child, she returned to school, earning a bachelors degree in secondary education from Saginaw Valley State University, and went to Greece with the history scholarship program at SVSU.

Tammy was dedicated to being a servant to and witness for her Lord and Savior. She traveled many times with M.O.S.T. Ministries to Latvia, Guatemala, Honduras, Poland, Panama, and Jamaica, serving in eyeglass clinics, building churches, and teaching Sunday School. She sang in church choirs, taught Sunday School, was a Sunday School superintendent, and taught and helped organize Vacation Bible Schools for many years at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She also attended rallies in Washington D.C., volunteered at the Open Door and Beacon of Hope, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

She held a lifelong love of animals of all kinds, and enjoyed having many household pets over the years in addition to a small hobby farm. She delighted in having family to their Lake George cabin; pontooning with the grandkids, tubing, swimming, and kayaking. She also enjoyed preparing big family meals, eating at the small local restaurants, and listening to live bands. She found great satisfaction in taking on remolding projects of her home, yard, cabin, and her children’s homes too; she had a real eye for style, construction, and how the finished project would look.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of thirty-nine years, Charlie; her three children, Ryan (Amy) Hyatt, Allison Hyatt, Ben Hyatt, all of Midland; her parents, Carl (Retha) Neuenfeldt of Hemlock; her three brothers, Carl (Anne) Neuenfeldt of Saginaw, Thomas (Jan) Neuenfeldt of Midland, and Gregory Neuenfeldt of Hemlock; her six grandchildren, Maryn, Charlie, Ava, Benjamin, Katherine, and Noah.

Services for Tammy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 27, 2019 from Grace Lutheran Church, 303 W. Ruth Street in Auburn. Reverend Aaron T. Schian will officiate with 2:30 p.m. graveside burial rites in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Tammy’s family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Grace Lutheran Church, 303 Ruth St, Auburn MI 48611, or Beacon of Hope, 2360 Midland Rd, Bay City, MI 48706.
