Obituary for Marjorie Danzer Straub

MARJORIE DANZER STRAUB passed very peacefully at home in Midland, Mi on January 30, 2018 with her family at her side.

MARGE began her life journey on August 18,1938 in Oil City, PA, the daughter of Thelma and Dr Joseph Danzer. She enjoyed growing up there with her four siblings and made many lasting friendships. Naturally athletic, she particularly enjoyed basketball whether in the back alley or later with the Tartans - an undefeated girls team. Following graduation from Oil City High School in 1956 she obtained an associates degree from Cazenovia College in upstate New York. Returning home she worked briefly for Quaker State Oil Co before marrying Bill Straub, also of Oil City. Together they continued a life journey that endured 60 years, led them to many interesting places and new friendships, and most importantly produced three loving and very individual children - Julie Davis of Saginaw, Mi, Kathryn Persun of Pittsburgh, Pa and John Straub of Ocean View, De.

Marge devoted the best years of her life to raising her children and supporting Bill’s medical training and career. She enjoyed living or being near the water, travel with family and friends, and playing team tennis in Pittsburgh and Boston. She took up painting in midlife and became quite accomplished in watercolors. Later she relished spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. To those who met and knew her, Marge will be remembered for her warm, genuine smile that flowed from her quiet core.

In addition to her spouse and children she is survived by her sister Judy Collins of Pagosa Springs, Co. and Bob and Cathy Danzer of Huntsville, Al. Preceding her in parting were her
afore-mentioned parents, and brothers Tom Danzer of Harrisburg,Pa and Joe Danzer of Albuquerque, NM.

A private celebration of Marge’s life will be held at a later date. Remembrances can be directed to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home.
