Obituary for Edith Marie Auernhamer

Edith Marie Auernhamer, 84, of Vassar, died early Sunday morning, February 11, 2018 at her residence. She was born December 19, 1933 in Juniata Township, Tuscola County, daughter of the late James W. and Esther (Leckrone) Clinesmith and was a graduate of Caro High School.

After her marriage to Billy Lee Reeve, she was later married to Howard Auernhamer On August 2, 1985 in Vassar. He survives her. Mrs. Auernhamer retired from Dulars in Vassar after many years of service. She was also employed at the Bandbox Cleaners in Vassar for many years. She was a former member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Vassar and was currently a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville and was a member of its Mary Martha Guild. Being a loving grandmother was one of the best things in her life. Her hobbies included doing puzzles, traveling. Cooking, baking, especially making her pies and cookies, and watching the Detroit Tigers.

Surviving besides her husband Howard are her children and their spouses; George and Janet Reeve of Twining; Judy Reeve of Fairgrove; Jerry and Joyce Reeve of Vassar; and Dan Reeve of Mundy Township; step-children; Jim and Gail Howe of Frankenmuth; Dawn Ayotte of Vassar; Jamie and June Lawson of Aiken, S.C.; Jim and Jan Kribs of Frankenmuth; Judy Sprinkle of Vassar and Phil Kribs of Florida; twenty seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephew. Also surviving are her two sisters, Beulah Hughes of Caro and Nancy Hecht and her husband Thomas of Crystal Falls. In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by three brothers and one sister; Elgin Clinesmith, James Clinesmith, Robert Clinesmith, and Barbara Bushong.

Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018 from the St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville. Reverend Wesley Gillaspie and Reverend Rob Gadeken will both officiate with Committal Services to follow in the St. Michael’s Cemetery. Edith’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Wednesday from 2-7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville.
