Obituary for Robert Stoner

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and cousin Robert Stoner who passed away on June 30th.

Bob was a warm, friendly man who had a wry sense of humor and an abundance of patience and kindness. He graduated from Midland High School and worked for Dow before deciding to join the Airforce. He was stationed in Alaska before being honorably discharged in 1954. Bob married his high school sweetheart the former Harriet Wallaker in 1953. He worked a short time at Dow again then became a student at Michigan Tech University, earning a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1959.

Bob was born on November 26, 1930 to Elvin and Dorothy (Hurst)Stoner. He is survived by his sister Nancy (Joe) Stearns, of Frankenmuth, who he was very close to. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth and brother Elvin.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Harriet, children Jeri Lynn Castonia (Bill) of Ludington, Roberta Sue Stoner of Midland, Randal Lewis Stoner (Stacy) of Rives Junction, grandchildren Aaron and Audrey and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob was a happy man and was probably happiest when he was fishing on Crystal Lake chasing the big one at his cottage in Frankfort. Bob retired from Consumers Energy and continued with consulting work for them after his retirement. He and Harriet traveled to Vero Beach, Florida in the winter months for some years before deciding that home was where their hearts were.

Cremation has taken place and a family gathering is planned. Donations to the Toni & Trish House in Auburn would be very much appreciated. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors.
